Flexible Meeting Space
Following the successful refurbishment of their existing office, Bicycle Therapeutics approached Bunch Interiors and Veritas Commercial Ltd to explore how three existing meeting rooms could be transformed into a more flexible, multi-use space.
The brief was to create a space that could function as two generously sized meeting rooms, while also having the ability to open up into one larger meeting and seminar space. This was particularly important for the business when the main boardroom was unavailable, providing an additional space for departmental meetings, team sessions, seminars and larger gatherings.
Designing for flexibility:
Furniture selection and space planning were central to the design. The room needed to adapt easily to different uses, with two large screens, whiteboards, privacy screens, a catering credenza and additional seating all incorporated into the scheme.
The existing rooms presented an additional challenge. With no external windows, the only source of natural light came from the windows within the main office beyond. Maintaining the flow of daylight and ensuring the space continued to feel open and connected to the wider workplace was therefore an important consideration.
During the design process, the brief evolved into a single large meeting space with the flexibility to completely transform when required.
Clever folding tables from Bene Furniture became a key element of the scheme. The tables can be easily reconfigured for different meeting formats and stored away when not required, allowing the room to transition from a formal meeting environment into a more open space for larger gatherings or alternative office configurations.
Bench seating around the perimeter provides additional places to sit while also acting as a flexible element that can be moved and adapted to suit different layouts.
The result is a versatile meeting environment that makes better use of the existing footprint, supports different ways of working and provides Bicycle Therapeutics with an adaptable space that can evolve throughout the working day.
